You're probably like us; wondering how and where your Deluxe Edition (or pre-order) bonus items are. Don't fret! The items are there...you just can't use them as a level 1 Guardian. You'll have to play through the game a bit before receiving those special items, and honestly, that makes sense. It just doesn't feel right to be running around with some crazy exotic weapon when my armor can barely protect me from a stray bullet.

Bungie has outlined the exact process for obtaining these items, and in all but one case, you'll actually have to complete the campaign before doing so. Below, you'll find Bungie's unlock process for each item.

These items are not the only thing Destiny 2 players will be able to access after beating the campaign. In-game Clan functionality is unavailable for the first few days after launch, while raids don't unlock until next week.

Pre-order Content:

This is Overwatch's new map, Junkertown's, queen. It's easy to see why fans are so obsessed with this particular piece of lore. Doesn't she look KICKASS?! She was first introduced as a disembodied voice speaking over the Junkertown Escort map preview, but now she has many of us hoping she'll become a playable character one of these days. The image above is a poster found around the new Junkertown map.

The map also features what we assume to be the queen's throne, complete with wicked looking weapons. One looks like a spear, while the other looks to be some sort of bladed-death-boom-stick-thing.

Although she is just a voice, so far, we do happen to know a little about her. Like the rest of Junkertown's residents, she survived a blast that wiped out the Australian outback, turning it into a irradiated wasteland. We also know...she's no friend of the Omnics (or Junkrat and Roadhog).

Her decree, scribbled across the streets of Junkertown, is topped by the #1 rule: NO OMNICS. As we learned from The Plan - one of the recent animated shorts released by Blizzard - Junkrat and Roadhog caused a lot of trouble for her as they stole a bunch of money and blew up her "summer shack", as it were. You can check out The Plan below!

****FYI! This post contains spoilers for the D&D adventures Storm King's Thunder and Curse of Strahd****

In the D&D adventure Storm King's Thunder, three giant rocks have crushed the Osstra family's farm in the abondoned village of Nightstone, causing them to flee the town. Of course, the Osstra family and all their neighbors get captured by a band of goblins, who scurry them to a cave. Players have the option to rescue the villagers and if they choose to do so, they'll run into farm Thelbin Osstra, his husband, and their adopted nephew.

The family is actually a shout-out to one of the story's writers, Jeremy Crawford. Crawfor lived with his husband and nephew when the adventure was being written back in 2016. He approached D&D publisher, Wizards of the Coast, with the notion of expanding the game's outreach to more players and making D&D more...gay!

The original game was made by two men, both conservative christians at one point (*shudders*), and now 40 years later, the game is coming out of the stone age. D&D is embracing the variety of players who enjoy their adventures.

Curse of Strahd actually involves even more gay quirks. Players can persuade a spellcaster to join their quest in defeating a vampire. In the course of said quest, they will meet Vladimir Horngaard, a commander who was once the spellcaster's lover. If the spellcaster joins up a painful moment of recognition may follow.

Since Strahd has come out, every adventure since has included at least one queer character with queer plotlines woven into the story.

Stay wonderful, Wizards. The inclusion of more gayness into the living and breathing monster that is D&D is some fantastic news to all of us in the LGBT community! And you, the players! Keep being awesome and DMing those custom lesbian love scenes like champions! We love you!

Odd as it may seem, you've certainly heard it right; Final Fantasy XV will be receiving a DLC in collaboration with Assassin's Creed Origins. The collab kicks off on August 30th. FFXV players who have obtained the Dream Egg from the Moogles Chocobo Carnival event will be gifted an Assassin outfit for Noctis. On August 31st, the free Assassin's Festival DLC for FFXV will be released.

Ubisoft says,"The town of Lestallum will transform itself for the event with signs and banners signaling the arrival of the festival, and new activities will be available for players to participate in. It doesn't end there. The Assassin's Festival will have some additional themed items and features, including another outfit from Assassin's Creed, along with abilities that enable Noctis to explore more like an Assassin and even use some of the Assassins' more well-known abilities."

So enjoy the weird crossover. It sounds cool...cooler than a stupid pocket themed mobile game, for sure.

Last night, Narmak, a US-based animator, uploaded a masterpiece to their YouTube account. Here it is -- a video full of anime cliches and the best damn anime drama totally fitting of Spongebob.

It had me in tears. Big, beautiful, joy-filled, globby anime tears.

Check it out below -->

Jeff Kaplan, the illustrious game director for Overwatch, issued a developer update targeting one of the mos popular support characters in the game: Mercy.

Most noteworthy would be changes toward Mercy's ultimate, (*screams* HEROES NEVER DIE!!!) that allows her to bring fallen comrades back to life, and the idea of changing such a technique to be her second ability. Don't get excited though -- there will be changes to the ability. Now, HEROES NEVER DIE will be single target only, and on a cooldown.

Mercy's new ult is Valkyrie, which does "a lot of things" according to Kaplan. When Valkyrie is activated, Mecy can fly - actually fly. No boosting of floating. Her entire basis is enhanced, allowing her to stream several buffing beams to multiple targets. Her pew-pew gun also shoots faster and hits harder.

Netflix has done it again. Not only were they happy to release a Cyborg 009, Cyborg 009 vs Devilman, and Voltron remakes, but now they have ventured into remaking one of the most dearest animes to the 80's and 90's generation: Saint Seiya.

An initial season of 12 episodes has been announced, which supposedly spans the first four arcs of the series using 30 minute episodes. Could a mere 6 hours pack the whole adventure that were The Twelve Houses Battle, Asgard, Poseidon and Hades sagas??

I honestly doubt it... but Yoshiharu Ashino, director of D. Gray Man Hallow, is going to direct the episodes and we can only hope that he does a good job.

Personally, I am quite annoyed at the fact that really awesome animes are getting remade just for a quick look. The original series consisted of more than 100 episodes plus all the movies and spin offs, it really expanded on each saint's story and you got to grow fond of each character with their faults and virtues. In the old days, it took dedication to become a fan! Nowadays, things have to get remade for a quick buck for punks who can't even keep their attention span longer than 30 mins.

I know I am being a bit harsh, but honestly, there is no need to repaint a Mona Lisa or redesign a pair of converse. The art comes from the original design ;)

WHY? Why is Square Enix wasting time to make a cute, adorable version of their hit, Final Fantasy XV? To be honest, I don't have the answer...I just think it is silly. Regardless of my opinion, it is happening. Square is currently working on a mobile (iOS & Android) FFXV game that centers around the adventures of Noctis and his friends.

It's a retelling of the original game that lets players explore the world of Eos through ten different episodes. The first episode is free, but the others will need to be paid for (LAME!). Just another example of Square wanting your money for something pointless. I sound bitter, but I just hate gimmicky FF stuff. They argue the game will be good for fans wanting to get involved in the adventure without taking the big step into the daunting hours and hours of play through.

The official release information out of L.A. says the game will be great, "Giving fans and newcomers alike the freedom to journey through Eos whenever and from wherever they want."

Sigh. Anyway...it's cute, and many people will fly toward it because it has the name "Final Fantasy" tagged to it. So go ahead and play your Pocket Fantasy (isn't that the name of a sex toy? If not...it should be.)

The game is slotted to be released later this year, with its adorable art style and easy-to-use touch controls. All ten episodes will be available at launch, but as I said above, only the first one will be free. The announcement trailer is below:

I AM. SO EXCITED!!! Well, the young me is certainly screaming. Whether you're willing to admit it or not, we've all liked SOMETHING related the the Naruto anime. As for me, I'm not ashamed. I love Naruto, and I enjoy Boruto as well. Regardless of your tastes, let me just say...IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME! Finally, for the first time in a Naruto game, we'll be able to create our own custom ninja!

The game itself, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, will be released next year and promises an interesting twist to the traditional style for fighting games we know. The game introduces a team based online multiplayer arena battle system with games like capture the flag, base control, etc.. There is already a plethora of characters from the Naruto/Boruto universe we can play...but now you're fanfiction creations can actually come to life (juuuust like DBZ Xenoverse)!

Players can customize everything from eyes, hair, mouth, etc., and then get to choose their ninja's class-based weaponry and ninja techniques. From the trailer, it sounds like you can learn additional moves from different mentors across the game (OMG! DBZ Xenoverse!).

No doubt, I'm excited for the game...but, like everything, I'm going to give it some time before picking it up. So many Naruto games...too little money. Check out the newest trailer down below!

The annual Pokemon World Championships are being held in Aneheim, CA this weekend! This is YOUR chance to see the best of the best compete in both the official Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) and the Pokemon video game world. Over $500,000 in prizes will be awarded through the games.

You can watch all the action via Pokemon's official World Championships livestream --

Watching, you might be a bit confused why some things are being done the way they are. Don't get discouraged! Here is a quick overview on the rules being implemented and followed for the video game bouts:

For 2017 -
--Only pokemon in the Alola Pokedex are allowed (Pokemon Sun and Moon)
--Pokemon MUST have the Alola symbol showing they were caught in the Alola region
--Mythical and some Legendary Pokemon are NOT allowed
--No Mega Stones are allowed
--All other items are allowed, including z-Crystals
--Double battle format -- Each player has two Pokemon out on the field at one time
--90-second team preview, 45-second turn limit, 10-minute "player time". 90-second: each player is given this time to preview their opponent's battle team. Based on that, said players can then pick four Pokemon from a pre-registered six, they think would match best against the opponent.
--All Pokemon are set to level 50, including Pokemon below 50
--Ties at the end of the time limit are broken based on how much HP each player's Pokemon have left
--Z-Moves can be used once per battle

To be honest, it's been a while since we've had the opportunity to play some consecutive matches in Overwatch; not because we no longer like the game, but some life events have been keeping us busy. Luckily, time is coming back to us...just in time for Overwatch's newest event! The Summer Games have returned, and with it, some fabulous new skins!

We'll start with the bang: Solider 76's (Dad 76's) Grillmaster: 76 skin. We just can't get over this one...hands down our favorite. The best part? Soda can healing! Ah, and we cannot forget those amazing dad sock/sandal combo. It's just too perfect. Too. Damn. Perfect.

Up next is Widow's sexy new swimwear: Cote d'Azur. We love seeing as many of Widow's tats as we possibly can, so this skin really stole our hearts. The hair is just icing on the cake!

Although pretty, this is one we don't necessarily agree with for this particular event: Mercy's Winged Victory. Okay...I get the "victory" theme, but it just feels like it's trying too hard to fit in with the rest of the themes (beach/games). Regardless, it's a great looking skin with some fabulous details -- probs won't waste the 3k coins on it though... because it'll always be Witch Mercy or nothing with us.

Close to Sakti's explosive heart: Junkrat's Cricket uniform. Um...so this was a pretty awesome idea as a whole. His peg-leg is a CRICKET BAT!!

There are three more legendary skins that we're a bit "meh" to us, but probably interest many of you Sombra, McCree, and Reaper Mains. Sombra's Tulum, Reaper's Biker, and McCree's Lifeguard. The beach towel and flare gun are excellent additions to the McCree skin. We wouldn't complain if we happened to roll up on these three through the good 'ol lootbox system, but we'll be saving our coins for future events...especially because the recent fix gives us less of a chance for dupes (which is a good thing!!!) and thus less coins.

So... that happened.

I didn't go into this year's E3 expecting much- the convention hasn't granted much room for optimism about the industry in the last several years, and to tell you the truth, I considered not even watching it.
Like... for a second.
But then, I watched all of them.

I'm not here to give you a blow-by-blow of all of the conferences, but instead to try and lend some perspective to a few things that seem the most important to acknowledge, or at least that I don't think have been discussed elsewhere.

So, after seeing Microsoft unveil the prohibitively expensive XBOX One X and the Porche 911 at their conference, I get the feeling that since they have so solidly lost the consumer-level console war to PlayStation (Where the PS4 has 57% marketshare overall), I think Microsoft is SPECIFICALLY choosing to cater to rich gamers. People with big-ass 4K TV's and tons of cash to burn. Microsoft's gaming division already has overwhelming marketshare on the PC side of things, so why NOT pull out of the consumer-grade console market and carve out a niche in what I'm sure will come to be known as "Luxury gaming"?

Seriously, though... Five hundred dollars for a gaming console? Did someone at Microsoft have a stroke and forget what happened in the 7th console generation? One of the biggest reasons XBOX 360 dominated the console market for its generation is because Sony had ruled over Gen 6 with the PS2 so completely, that they got cocky and introduced the PS3 at five hundred dollars. That move left customers out in the dust, so Microsoft was right there with a cheaper console when they needed it.

Maybe it's the convenient excuse that people who buy the XBOX One X are still technically on the XBOX One, so Microsoft isn't TECHNICALLY barring people from playing its games, but I think they're forgetting that gamers don't like feeling like they're not getting the best experience that their games can offer, not to mention owners of the original XBOX One are going to feel more than a little resentful when they try to trade up- oh, yeah, and expect your local Gamestop to start getting overstocked with used XBOX Ones, and having angry Ex-XBOX One owners (Ex-BOX?) walking out muttering about getting ripped off.

Microsoft's conference had plenty of good, but also featured a very loose definition of "exclusive". But I actually want to address the fanboys in the audience with this section: Why are you cheering for exclusivity? Are you really SO petty that you take pleasure in the fact that less people will be able to play the games you can? I would think that when you *like* a game, you'd want its playerbase to be massive, not artificially truncated. But there you have it.

The game devs are all sure to promote their games in more meaningful ways in the months to come, but I think it's pretty clear where Microsoft wants its audience. In a different economy.

(seriously though if you're gonna blow $500 on a gaming machine, just save a little extra scratch and build a PC instead. you'll save so much more on games.)

29.3.17

The year is 2012. Cultists claim that the end of the world is nigh, conspiracy theorists spread rumours that the President is the Antichrist, and I'm not even talking about the game yet. Yes, it was a simpler time. People were still playing Farmville on Facebook, Blizzard hadn't turned World of Warcraft into Kung Fu Panda yet, and Konami was just putting the finishing touches on their attempt to turn their most popular survival horror franchise into a modern cover-based military shooter. All the while, FunCom was creating this interesting little MMO that was going to revolutionize the way we thought about MMORPG's.
It didn't. But it *was* a great ride.
In terms of mission design and advancement mechanics, FunCom's The Secret World really was unprecedented. As you might expect with any MMORPG, the story was quite intriguing and complex- if you bothered to pay attention to any of it. And to its credit, for all the effort to bring in players that wanted to be involved with the story, including an incredibly immersive and mind-warpingly hard collaborative ARG mystery that led up to the release, The Secret World's presentation was enough to keep players engaged with the story, unless they deliberately wanted to miss it. No, you weren't given real dialogue choices like in The Old Republic, but you were given fully voiced cutscenes and volumes of flavortext, if you looked around for it. Some quests (which I'll cover later) rewarded your attention to detail, the knowledge of which only trained your mind to appreciate this well-designed and presented world ever further.
I don't expect you're reading this to learn about the game as an abstract concept, however, so let's talk about why this is one Free-to-Play that you shouldn't pass up
Image result for the secret world

The Basics: If you didn't know already, FunCom's The Secret World started off as a pay-once-play-forever MMO, and it is that original game that is now being released in-full as the free-to-play Secret World Legends, with the cosmetic player options being the now-monetized feature of the game. So, apart from that one difference, what you're getting is a game that was developed and released as a $45 complete game, and this lack of a need to continue drawing endless subscription fees allowed FunCom to forego a lot of the sinister Skinner-box style gameplay mechanics that keep WoW players shelling out $120 a year just to do their dailies. Whether or not this contributed to their drop-off in player base I'll leave up to you, but the impact on gameplay design was unmistakable. Your basic "Go to X and kill Y amount of Z monster" style quest was still present, but instead of making up the bulk of the game, they remain safely in their designated place where they are useful.  Such quests are intentionally simple, designed, in this case, to  familiarize you with the layout of the local questing area and the kinds of basic monsters you should expect to encounter. They served as a good gauge of whether you were ready to tackle a local questing area, or if you needed to shore up your gear and your current build before pushing forward. In that sense, it was more of a mini orientation, to get the basics out of the way before throwing interesting quests and puzzles at you. But I'll get to that in a minute.
The actual gameplay mechanics were quite simple, not at all foreign to MMO vets: You had a taskbar full of abilities, and you cycled through each of them accordingly during encounters. So, on its surface, the gameplay was your standard MMO fare. Underneath, however, was a complex strategy game. What sets The Secret World apart from the pack is that there was no player level. All of your numerical stats were determined almost exclusively by your gear, and your abilities were determined specifically by what you chose to have. Experience gained translated into advancement points that you could then spend however you like, picking and choosing abilities along any skill tree (each skill tree was based on its corresponding weapon type) that you fancied. As long as you carried the right gear and unlocked the right abilities, you could conceivably play any role you wanted, and switch builds between encounters. However, with slots for only five activated abilities (including your basic attack ability) and five passive abilities, the strategy in The Secret World was more about what abilities you chose. You could equip any two weapons at once, and select your favorite abilities from each of their skill trees, building your character's strategies around your preferred playstyle. The game included its own suggestions, and special unlockable outfits that stood as rewards for unlocking all the right abilities to match the suggested builds, but with nine weapon types, each brimming with their own collection of abilities, it's far more likely you're going to come up with your own clever approach to the game as you hone your skills.

Image result for the secret world investigation quests

The Quests: As I mentioned before, by freeing up their design to include less grind-ey quests and more immersive scenarios, The Secret World's collection of quests actually felt like they had real motivation for doing them, and enough variation to keep you engaged in the story instead of just trying to fill an XP bar. Given the game's universal approach to the supernatural, you would find yourself fighting beasties from all over your local bookstore's fiction section, from run-of-the-mill zombies to ancient Egyptian demigods. Instanced quests made smaller, more horror-oriented segments more personal and visceral, and side quests scattered throughout the zones presented inventive, dare-I-say fun little adventures instead of your run-of-the-mill fetch quest.
But if you're not here for the basic gameplay and to simply follow the story's quests, then you're here for one of two things: the Investigation Quests, or the Raids.
Raids are your standard 5-player fare, so you can't pull in an army from your local clan to come stomp the baddies, though you can get a higher-tiered player to come help you make it through the tough encounters. Still, if you're the kind of person who enjoys raids, overcompensating for the challenge level seems pointless. Besides, what you're going to find in the raids are tough bosses with brutal attack patterns and clever abilities, each of which will require teamwork and coordination to overcome. Losing at a fight only sets you back outside the area, encouraging retries, and adapting your strategies (and builds) to defeat a particularly tough enemy. Tense and exciting, you never quite feel safe, and finishing a raid is always a satisfying feeling, especially if you luck out and get the gear you really need.
In my opinion, however, it's the Investigation Quests where the behind the scenes work really shines. Each Investigation quest is a multi-layered puzzle that the game will not spoon-feed to you. If you're into mysteries, ARG's, and critical thinking puzzles, my advice to you is get yourself a dedicated notebook and strap in: Over the course of this game, you're going to learn a frankly suspicious amount of cyphering, encryption, world history, mythology, chemistry, even medicine. The difficulty level is bordering on the absurd, from time to time, but finally solving one of these quests will make the maddening frustration all worth it. I'll tell you straight away- walkthroughs exist for every last one of these, but you'd be ruining what I would argue are the game's best features.  This game taught me Morse Code. When was the last time you learned a practical skill from a videogame?

The PVP: Skip it. I'm dead serious. The PVP in this game could have been great, with its whole "We are all clandestine agents of secret societies" angle, had it just been given the level of thought paid to the rest of the game, but it just wasn't. Personally, you stand to gain next to nothing from participating, and the whole enterprise is such a boring affair that I simply can't overstate its uselessness. The three clans battle it out in boilerplate PVP battle arenas, mostly just running around in huge packs that smash into each other, and after all the chaos, one side is dead. There are too many players to be able to coordinate, and certain builds (*ahem assault rifles ahem*) are so ridiculously overpowered at range that how well one does in any particular encounter feels completely random at best. Winning battles may net your team a passive XP boost while you still have control, but there are a few random weirdos who do nothing but play the PVP (at least when I was playing) who will mostly control all of that action. Best to stick to what brought you to this game, and let the PvP exist in its own bizarre world.

Conclusion: Secret World Legends is a free-to-play game that was designed as a well-thought-out, full-price MMORPG for the (ironically enough) underserved Role-Play fans of this Role-Playing genre. The game is simple to learn, but deep in content, rich in its environment and writing, and has the uncanny ability to pull you deeper into its various stories as you unravel the mysteries of its world. The gameplay is tightly designed, the quests are creative and varied, and the PVP...exists. Of all of the MMORPG's I've seen go Free-to-play too soon, The Secret World feels like the only one that wasn't the fault of an ill-advised game overhaul that killed the community. Instead, it's the game's refusal to be a cheap addiction machine that brought its transition, in one Pooka's opinion. At the low price of literally nothing, this one is worth a try.

Destiny 2 Officially Announced!

Raise a glass Destiny fans, Bungie has officially announced that the long rumored Destiny 2 is actually a thing! The marketing for the highly anticipated sequel is already hitting fans hard with the recent release of a teaser trailer featuring everyone's...well, at least OUR favorite character Cayde-6 hanging out in a bar with a familiar city falling apart around him...and him shooting guys, of course.

The trailer follows the reveal of the Destiny 2 logo on Monday, and  last week's retail leak. The worldwide reveal trailer goes live this Thursday, March 30th.

Naruto Comes to An End

Episode 500 of Naruto Shippuden aired on March 23rd in Japan, signalling the end of an era. After 15 long years of  "dattebayou"s (or "believe it"s...whatever floats your boat), badass fight scenes, people saying "watch better anime", and an exponential increase in god-like abilities, the long-running anime has come to a wonderful conclusion.

This isn't a review post, but I'm still going to throw in a quick jab at how much I -and probably all of you- enjoyed this series. To many, it was a welcome into the world of anime, and to others just another fun show full of fillers. If you're like me, you probably stopped watching several years ago. So I come bearing gifts in celebration! This will help all interested in returning to the show, but not interested in watching all 500 episodes, 200+ of which are full of pure BS (unless you like cheesy scenarios and some odd-paced humor).

If you're looking for more detail head on over to this LINK -- it comes complete with episode names and a small tidbit of how much filler is included in each episode.

Don't forget to catch up on the movies as well.

SEE YOU IN BORUTO!!
